xii, 356 pp. 4to. 48 engravings from paintings by Gustav Konig, historical engravings, portraits, etc., by various other artists. Rev. George Croly provides an introduction, an overview of the evolution of Christianity, description of Konig's illustrations, and a history of the Reformation. Konig's artwork on the life of Martin Luther has been published in several forms, but the addition of all the extra content offered here is unusual. Martin Luther was the seminal figure of the Protestant Reformation, and his theological beliefs form the basis of Lutheranism. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in Western and Christian history.
