First edition. Signed and dated 'Cuba Aug 6th, 1892, Ella R. Searle'. Ella was Newell's only daughter by his first wife. Searle's writings feature excerpts from her father's writing, including a poem he wrote for Ella. She includes information about the sources from which the writings were taken, as well (e.g., "Lines written by my father to Mr. E.F. Chase of Rochester on his 55th Birthday, January, 1887"). Boards lightly rubbed.

xii, 52 pp. 8vo. Original brown cloth, gilt titles, blind-stamped double rule on front and rear board. George H. Newell was the first commodore of the Rochester Yacht Club, and captain of the yacht Ripple. This volume recounts numerous voyages the Ripple took on Lake Ontario in journal-style entries.
