339 pp. Color frontispiece black-and-white plates by Gayle Hoskins. Author's second novel, several of her works inspired films (The Fighting Shepherdess, The Man from Bitter Roots). A classic romance/western novel by Lockhart. A truly intriguing, almost gothic romance that takes place in the wild west, replete with desert sands, gunfights, and the adventures of the plains.
