London: Printed for J. Johnson, 1785. First Edition. Full-Leather. Good / No Jacket. Item #2304385

First edition (ESTC T105929). Collated and complete. Rebound in full leather (though the binder used upholstery leather for reasons unknown...) with new end sheets and significant paper restoration to front matter. Ink gift note and owner information on front flyleaf, light stains to some pages (mostly margins), a couple minor ink marks to text and margins on only a few pages (these are mostly helpful clarifications of the text and references to the fold-out plates).

xii, 353, [1] pp. 11 fold-out plates, each featuring numerous figures depicting geometric and scientific principles. A work designed for use as a textbook, by a friend of noted Unitarian Joseph Priestley. The book is dedicated to Priestley, and despite occasional professional disagreements the two were friends. Enfield was also a Unitarian minister, and is best known for his 1774 work on elocution, entitled The Speaker.
