From preface: 'Every factor of that great organisation was subordinated to the common object, and the Works at Crewe as urgency arose became a Munitions Department.' Contents include chapters on armoured trains, 'mechanical miscellanea', the graze-fuse, care of the cartridge case, gunnery and projectiles, the crewe tractor, drop-forging, and several appendices explaining finer mechanical principles. Includes frontispiece and 21 black & white plates.
